My background in aviation started when I was young. I spend many weekends at the local FBO, flying with my dad. I went on to earn my private pilot license while I was living in Venezuela.

Once I was back in the states, I kept flying a bit and and at the same times, attended St. Cloud State University. I eventually earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Aviation Management. I have tried out just about every type of aviation. I have experience working in the airline industry, FBO, Charter, as a corporate flight attendant, and ultimately found my niche, dispatching for General Aviation, part 91 specifically.

I earned my Dispatch certificate in 2002 and in April 2016, I earned the Certified Aviation Manager designation. Over the past 20 years, I have worked for a variety of flight departments, from small, one aircraft operators to large Fortune 500 companies with a fleet of aircraft. I really believe in the added safety and convenience that a dispatcher adds to any flight department.

After working in some large flight departments, I saw the huge benefits they can leverage with full time dispatchers on staff. I believe all flight departments, large or small, should have access to those same added benefits, without the unnecessary cost of a full time employee when only part time hours may be needed.

I’ve loved everything about travel since I was very little. My dad was a purchasing manager for a large local furniture company, traveling all over the world purchasing exotic veneers. My favorite thing was to pick him up at the airport when he returned home, because he always returned with cool things from his trip. While attending high school, I did a correspondence course on travel, not certain if I wanted to be a flight attendant or travel agent. After graduating, I was offered a job at a local travel agency. That job helped fuel my passion for all things travel related.

I loved corporate travel the most, as there’s a big difference between corporate and vacation travelers. I enjoyed the uncertainty of corporate travel, the required quick response time, the changes, the fast paced days when you received a phone call with the need to travel in a few hours. The relationships you build with your clients, as travel is very personal, when they’re traveling and want to get home right now, and weather or maintenance throws a curve ball, it’s very rewarding when you can connect the dots and get them back home! I’ve worn many hats over the years in the travel agency and then decided to branch out and try private aviation. I was offered a job at a local airport and worked in charter sales and was hooked with private aviation. I eventually worked for a large automotive company, scheduling their private jets and also working the corporate travel side. After several years I decided to retire and continue dabbling in travel part time, continuing to fuel my passion of assisting travelers travel around the world.

Lori has been a travel department manager and has been active on the NBAA Schedulers & Dispatchers Committee, including acting as Chairman in 2014-2015.

Clients find working with LD Aviation to be refreshingly simple, great service with all the resources of a large, in-house flight department.
